Provide major employers such as Ochsner Health System, Acme Truck Line, Laitram, Al Copeland Investments, and Cox Communications access to a labor pool of more than 758,000 workers living in the rail corridor parishes.
Provide a direct connection to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport — an major international hub that served 9,785,394 passengers in 2014.
Expand access to medical facilities such as Ochsner Health Systems, West Jefferson Medical Center, and East Jefferson General Hospital.
Increase patronage of retail centers such as Lakeside, Clearview, Oakwood, Esplanade and Elmwood shopping areas.
Promote cultural assets such as the Family Gras and Gumbo festivals, Tour de Jefferson, and the Lafreniere Park light display.
Attract new residents and support more active living choices for the more than 230,000 millennials and baby boomers living in Jefferson Parish (53% of the parish population) – groups with a demonstrated preference for access to transit and walkable mixed-use neighborhoods.
Increase municipal revenues and reduce expenses by:
- Attracting commercial and residential development within incorporated areas surrounding the rail station
- Increasing local sales tax revenue
- Increasing property values
- Increasing visitor sales tax revenue
- Creating value capture opportunities in the station area
